Life Happens. Get Over it!
Not always as easy as it sounds, is it? But you know as well as I know that it has to be done. The “getting over it”, I mean.
In the field of personal development the saying is “Life is what happens when you’re in pursuit of your goals”. No doubt all who pursue goals can give testimony to that statement.
When did “life” last happen for you?
For me, it was Monday just gone, and that explains my lack of posting for a few days. Not that I wasn’t “getting over it”, but my Fiancee’s letter on that day did cause more than a little thought.
As you’ve seen written elsewhere on this site, your best thoughts and ideas can often come without you having to think; same stands for solutions, or possible solutions, to your problems.
btw… You can apply this to the problem of “writers’ block”. You know, when you’re stuck on what to write, or even stuck in the middle of what you are writing. Take a diversion activity and let the answer come.
So I chose to “let the dust settle” and handed the problem over for my subconscious to work on the solution while I made myself busy.
Was that avoiding the issue on my part?
No, not really… but it took my mind away from trying to find, or do, the impossible and, in doing so, the distraction gained me some extra benefits.
Monday saw the end of some shopping that I’d been putting off, the repair of a slow puncture in one of my car tyres, which I’d also been putting off, and the disposal of several items of redundant possessions which were long overdue in their disposal.
Those actions removed a degree of stress, created a bit more space and comfort by the removal of clutter… always a good thing to do… and gave me some peace of mind.
On Tuesday I washed my car and made a start on clearing my desk, getting rid of some more unfinished writing and the disposal of several bits of paper in the process. There’s now a tree, somewhere, heaving a sigh of relief over those recycled “few” bits of paper.
Then came Wednesday, when I was forced to admit that my domain (just 2 rooms and a bathroom) needed some cosmetic attention. A busy “Henry” was put to task in the vacuum department, and several “J cloths” helped with the watery side of things.
All in all, not a bad payoff, as far as most distractions go.
There’s only one solution to the problem facing my Fiancee and I.
We both already know the answer, and it’s by no means an instant solution.
No good will come to either of us by stressing over it.
And the same goes for you when you have something you want to happen yesterday, and yet you can’t see it happening at a specific point in the future.
All you can do is have Faith in your plan, Belief that it will happen, and keep working to make it so.
Clearing the clutter from your life does help; unloading all the stuff that no longer serves you. And that doesn’t just refer to tangible things.
Those subscriptions that once interested you, but you lost interest; programs you joined which haven’t turned out as you expected; really… anything that consumes your time without producing any, or sufficient, benefit in return.
Get rid of it all.
And when you’ve got rid of it all… take a look and see what moves, if any, you can make to create a more pleasant working environment.
I really do take my hat off to all the ladies, everywhere, who seem to be far more capable at running a home, holding down a job, raising a family, and… on top of all that… working to make a better life for themselves and their families by working, yet again, on building a business online… all at once and in ONE lifetime.
Ladies… I salute you.
My own Fiancee is a grand example, but no means unique in this.
Myrna’s uniqueness lies in additional areas again.
If any of the above rings true for you, then I’m sure you will get as much peace of mind and satisfaction as it has given me by doing those things.
Dispose and Repose sums it up I guess. Enjoy the process.
